5 Easy, Quick And Seriously Tasty Salmon Recipes

Salmon is one of the most popular fish out there and its delicate, yet meaty flavour is known to please even the not-too-keen-on-seafood crowd. As for us at Tabl, the thing we love most about is its versatility. Grilled, poached, fried, smoked, you name it, this pinkish baby takes anything and goes well with everything.

We’ve picked our 5 favourite salmon recipes that are packed with flavour, easy to make and so perfect for a quick yet healthy weeknight dinner.

Caramelised BBQ Salmon 

BBQ Salmon


4 salmon fillets (about 150g each)

2 tbsps hot sauce

1 tbsp dark brown sugar

1 tsp cayenne pepper

Salt and fresh pepper

Coconut oil


1. Mix together hot sauce, brown sugar and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.

2. Sprinkle salmon fillets with salt and pepper.

3. Brush grill grate (or cast iron griddle) and lay the salmon fillets skin-side up. Cook until clear grill marks appear (about 2-3 minutes) and turn.

4. Brush the fish with spicy mixture and continue to cook it, brushing it periodically until it’s done (about 10-15 minutes more, depending on how thick the fillets are).

5. Best served with basmati rice.

Parmesan and Garlic Crust Salmon

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken


1 whole salmon fillet

3 garlic cloves, finely minced

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped mint

1/4 cup chopped parsley

2 tbsps olive oil


1. Preheat oven to 200ºC and line baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Mix together garlic, cheese, fresh herbs and olive oil in a small bowl.

3. Place the salmon fillet, skin-side down on the baking sheet and cover it with a second piece of parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove the top paper and cover it with the cheese mixture, making sure it is evenly spread. Return to the oven uncovered and bake for another 20-25 minutes.

4. Best served with roasted baby potatoes and green beans.

Teriyaki Salmon 

Teriyaki Salmon


4 salmon fillets 

3/4 cup dark soy sauce

1 medium chilli, chopped

2 limes, zest and juice

3 tbsps honey

2 garlic cloves, chopped

1 handful finely chopped ginger

Chopped fresh coriander

2 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp coconut oil

350g rice noodles


1. Heat the coconut oil in a pan and fry the ginger, chilli and garlic. Add the lime zest and 1/2 juice, soy sauce and honey.

2. Cook until reduced and sticky.

3. In another pan, fry the salmon fillets, about 2 minutes each side.

4. Add the salmon to the reduced teriyaki sauce.

5. Cook and drain rice noodles and add sesame oil and the other 1/2 of lime juice. Serve the salmon on the noodles and chopped coriander.

Cashew Crust Salmon

Garlic Crusted Salmon


4 salmon fillets 

150g finely chopped cashew nuts

1 egg

1/2 tbsps cayenne pepper

2 tbsps olive oil

Salt and pepper


1. Preheat the oven to 190ºC and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a small bowl, combine cashews and cayenne pepper. Transfer mixture on a plate.

3. Whisk the egg and transfer it to a separate plate.

4. Season salmon fillets with salt and pepper and dip each of them first in the egg and then in the nut mixture. Align them on the baking sheet, making sure there’s enough space between all of the fillets.

5. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 20-25 minutes.

6. Best served with brown rice and pan fried greens.

Salmon burgers 

Salmon burger


Burger patties

550g boneless, skinless salmon, chopped into chunks

2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard

2 shallots, chopped

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan

1 tablespoon chopped chives

1 clove garlic, finely chopped

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper

Herbed greek yoghurt sauce

150g greek yoghurt

Chopped fresh mint

Salt and pepper

4 burger buns


1. Put salmon chunks in the food processor and pulse until finely chopped.

2. Use hands to mix in breadcrumbs, shallots, parmesan, garlic, chives, paprika, mustard and olive oil into the salmon. Form 4 equal sized patties and season them with salt and pepper.

3. Heat a pan over medium heat with olive oil and cook the burgers each side until golden, around 3-5 minutes each side.

4. For the yoghurt sauce, mix all the ingredients in a small bowl and spread about a tablespoon of it on the bottom half of the buns.

5. Top with burger patties and any additional toppings of your choice (we suggest sliced avocado). Add the top bun and dig in!
